1920s - Music Video Was Only Shot In One Place And One Continuous Scene
1929 - more scenery was shown with various amount of people in it.
1957 - close shot and long shots developed giving the viewers a clearer view of how the singer/person is feeling. more camera movement is involved as well.
1960s - a narrator with words printed on a paper was a new style for music videos in the 60s, as the singer would sing, the narrator shows the main words out of the pile of papers he got. usually the main words were the end of each line which would gain the viewers attention.
1966 (The Beatles) - the music video now has colour and it has different video effects which include cutting, fading & box shifting, which helps the video to be more entertaining than standard to the rest of the music videos in that year.
1970s - bits in the music video where the singers don't show their whole body, only their faces were shown which is caused by the lighting or some visual effect done by computers.
1980s - green screening was used, a range of different scenes were shot.
1990s - high quality recordings, more environmental interactions with emotions of people. more dancing was involved too, also a a story telling sequence was involved.
2000s - new fashion introduced since new millennium, far way more video effects, black and white, colour & sepia scenery. usually funny and humorous.
2016 - slow mo, dark scenes, flashing lights, real life locations.
