Homework

Lil Wayne Ft. Bruno Mars - Mirror

In this music video, the frequently used camera shot was close up and the reason for this is because the song is sad and the director of the music video wants to show Wayne's & Bruno's emotion throughout the 4 mins of the track. There were also shots such as mid-range, tilting, tracking, panning & long shot.
Bruno's Close Up
With this camera angle been used the viewers of this music video get to see how the artist is feeling whilst the music track continues to play.

Panning
(3.12 - 3.17 on the music video)
The panning was used to create happiness, suspense or tension in either way as Wayne was finishing his spray painting on the wall which could be a sign of happiness infact.

Tracking
(1.06 - 1.08, 2.32 - 2.38 & the majority of the music video)
The tracking shot was used effectively and in a way it relates to panning abit because when it was tracking Wayne's movement the camera was swaying side to side. Tracking is very useful and the reason why the Director of the music video used it is because he wants the audience/viewers to be engaged with Wayne/Bruno, they are trying to make the viewers think they're face to face with the celebrities.

Tilting
(3.41 - Till Music Video Cuts)
At the moment the music track finishes, the camera comes out of the close up shot, and goes into long shot where Wayne is facing the spray painting he just created. The tilt isn't major but it still has an effect on the audience because it's implying that the Music video has finished as it zoomed out on Wayne and it cropped in the spray painting.

Long Shot & Mid-range
Long shot is used to give the viewers of the video of where the music video is set and how the person may feel about being in a certain situation. Here Wayne has been blacked out which probably suggests that he is isolated from the things he once had and you could see him kicking over a tin of paint which could show anger. This shot is important as well because you could see how the persons body language is expressed.
Last of all the midrange shot (inbetween close up & long shot) this shot has more detail than long shot, meaning you could see what's going on in the background and how the body language is represented by the celebritrity, you could also see Wayne's packs in detail and you could also tell the colour shades he is wearing. This shot is normally used if the main person in a certain type of song is telling a story or some sort so you could clearly see hand movement, gestures and body language in full on detail.

Task 2: Styles, Conventions & Techniques Of Music Videos

Styles, Conventions & Techniques Of Music Videos Everything produced in media has codes and conventions and music videos are no exception. A code or convention is like a guideline of rules that music videos often follow that are always dependable on genre or style. The main conventions for music videos relate to camera shots and angles, editing, lyric interpretation, extending or consolidating songs meanings and allusion. Lyric Interpretation - lyrics being shown as a music video and this catches the audiences attention and it could make them sing along or even understand what the song is about. (Lyrical Video from The Chainsmokers - Closer) Extending or consolidating   - Extending or consolidating a song's meaning in a music video is when you use symbolism and things in the mis-en-scene to further push the meaning of the song or to add more of a meaning to a song or to just bring the lyrics together into a visual explanation of what the song actu...

Evaluation

My final production resulted to something different to what I had planned. The order of shots and scenes were placed in a different order opposing to the suggesting storyboard. This was mainly because one of the actors was not able to make it in on the desired shooting day and it lead to me making a few last minute arrangements. The beginning of my project was to start with a flashback scene of me mixing songs as it shows what I do in my free time. The reason why I couldn't film it and include it in my video was because I didn't have a tripod at the time to place behind me and capture me actually mixing the songs in real time. As this was a problem, I decided to make an introduction with myself rapping a part of my song to the camera in selfie-mode. Despite the fact that I had to rearrange a few scenes and include new ones, the whole production didn't come out badder than I thought. I managed to fit in close-ups, mid-range shots and also a established shots too. Establish...
